Hi and welcome to Avoozl! My name is Elle and I’m the one responsible for this nifty, flower-filled website.
Now, in case you’ve been wondering—as I sure would be were I to slip into your shoes—the name Avoozl comes from the Dark One entity character in Sierra On-Line’s magnificent adventure/role-playing game Quest for Glory: Shadows of Darkness. The name stands for desire, destruction and seclusion, but also symbolizes affection, attraction and kindness. Most of all, it perfectly embodies my love of classic games and how they impacted me in my youth.
💡 Origins
The idea stemmed from both my enjoyment and dislike of Wikipedia articles; it’s an incredible resource supported by thousands of devoted volunteers and while the writing quality is usually high, I often feel like articles are discordant in length and either littered with too much information or missing crucial segments. So when looking for a test subject while studying CSS, I thought I’d try building my own personal wiki of digital media favourites. It started as a simple notebook written in Markdown but slowly evolved over time, just as I learned how to code in the process.
